Trying to keep true to my ‘note to self’ that I’d give my best to do at least a couple blog posts a month. Not so much because I have to, but because sometimes I’m reminded that writing/blogging makes me happy. I often get quite an unexplainable relief from doing so. It’s my way to de-stress in the most uncostly way (because I love retail therapy, too! Hah!)
I’ve been meaning to do this post and it has been long overdue, but I felt like it needed my undivided time and attention as I didn’t want to produce it with a sense of rush. I gifted myself with this solo trip back in the Spring of ’14.
As much as I hate to admit this now, London was not in my bucket list for travel destinations. The major reason which prompted me to head there was because I wanted to visit a very good friend of mine (who is basically my cousin in law), Elfie. She had lived there for over five years, which is the same length of time since I last saw her. She was the most gracious host to accommodate my stay and was the best field trip buddy. We took a day trip to see The Stonehenge, Roman Baths, and Windsor Castle-(which I realize rightfully deserves its own post). She has now since moved here in the States, and I have yet to visit her in California. And because it happened to be so close to one of the cities I’ve really dreamed of visiting- Paris, where I took an overnight trip to and wrote about it here.
When asked, there’s one word that truly defines London for me- POSH! The people were chic, stylish, and friendly! Oh, I was fortunate to meet up with a few of my friends from college and they taught me a thing or two about being a local. And this was to always carry an umbrella. Yes, it rains in London- a whole lot. I also learned that the best way to get around the city was hopping on and off the red London double-decker buses with your trusty Oyster card. It’s not only the cheaper way to get around, you also get a much better sense of the city- and the views are icing on the cake.
I’m definitely feeling the urge to travel again. But for now, here are some of my favorite photos from the trip.
Until my next destination..
