I held off doing a blog post on this piece because I know there will always be those that would find this purchase obnoxious. Kindly proceed to exit if you are one of those. 🙂
When it comes to style, I always thought there were two types of people. You can be a “bag” or “shoes” person, and maybe even both. I fall under the former. I have always splurged on bags more than I have with shoes. And this beauty has always been my ultimate dream bag for as long as I can remember.
I have owned a couple of vintage Chanel pieces that I eventually sold at a consignment boutique in London. (Made a profit from it too! So you see, these bags are technically investments.) Since then, I always knew I would gather up my guts to buy my very own once I had enough saved for it.
To my wishful eagerness in the Spring of 2017, my husband made it happen. It’s supposed to be an all occasion gift as he teasingly calls it. I didn’t realize that even this classic flap bag was waitlisted. I received a call from the Chanel Boutique in Short Hills Mall telling me that they had gotten them in stock. On the same day, my husband and I were heading to window shop at The Outlets. After a sweet lady named Bella from the boutique called, we both decided to take the trip and drove to the mall instead.
I had researched this bag for years now and I was absolutely sure which size and kind I wanted. They are both equally beautiful, but I chose the caviar leather because I felt like it would need lesser caution while using as opposed to the lambskin kind. The bag industry in general produces countless styles that I feel go out of season as the next “it” bag comes along. I figured this piece will always remain a classic no matter how many other bags get produced.
I’ve always known that I will treasure this piece until I can hand it down someday when we are blessed with a daughter of our own. For the meantime, I will make sure I use and handle it with utmost care and love.
